Cycling Merit Badge Summer Series
Join your fellow scouts this summer to earn the Cycling Merit Badge, brought to you by the Council Cycling Committee.
The Cycling Merit Badge requirements are technical and challenging. Scouts will NOT complete the badge in one session. Completing the Cycling Merit Badge through this summer series, requires several parts.
1. Register for summer series online. Cost $15. (Adult supervision support only $5)
Scouts should review the Cycling Merit Badge requirements in advance.
2. Attend a street skills course- Offered free through the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition or the East Bay Bicycle Coalition. *Multiple dates and locations available.
3. Attend bicycle mechanics classroom session—date TBD, offered by Cycling Committee.
4. Attend distance rides-offered by the Council Cycling Committee.
**The schedule of rides will be determined at a later date (after the May 17th ride).
Adult/troop supervision/participation needed for each distance ride. Adults cost: $5
Troop sign-up ratio (adults:scouts) 1:4. Individual sign-up ratio 1:1.
First Ride—May 17th –8:30 at Dublin/Pleasanton BART (Dublin side).
Bring your own bike and lunch. Must register online by May 15th.
*The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the East Bay Bicycle Coalition offer the same curriculum and opportunities just in their own geographical areas. Scouts may choose from Traffic Skills 101 from San Francisco Bicycle Coalition OR the Urban Cycling 101 from East Bay Bicycle Coalition and will receive the same instruction and learning material.

**The Cycling Merit Badge requirement 7a2 requires two 10 mile rides, two 15 mile rides and two 25 mile rides. The schedule for completing each ride will be determined by the majority of group and several opportunities will be provided to complete rides throughout the summer.
