Grade C - Climbing Instructor Training
Grade C Course: This course requires 5 Sessions in order to complete the required curriculum.

Wednesday, September 19: 6 pm - 9 pm - @ YLTC in San Leandro
Friday 6 pm - Sunday 5 pm, September 21-23 - - @ YLTC in San Leandro and local climbing site
Wednesday, October 3: 6 pm - 9 pm - @ YLTC in San Leandro
Friday 6 pm - Sunday 5 pm October 12-14 - @ YLTC in San Leandro and local climbing sites
Wednesday, October 17: 6 pm - 9 pm - @ YLTC in San Leandro
Location: The course will be conducted in part at the SFBAC Climbing wall in San Leandro as well as multiple outdoor climbing locations throughout the two weekends. "Camping" will be available in the office conference rooms for the weekend sessions.
Cost: $100 before 9/25; $120 after - Includes Saturday and Sunday breakfasts and lunches for both weekends as well as first weekend Saturday dinner. The second weekend Saturday dinner will be on your own driving back from the climbing site to the YLTC.

Note: Participation in all 5 sessions (3 evenings and 2 weekend sessions) is required for completion of the course.
HEALTH INFORMATION:
Climbing activities are by nature very physically challenging and demanding. Participants should be in good physical health and be ready and able to climb, belay, hike and carry gear. If you have special needs or require special accommodations please describe below and on the reverse of this form. Climbing Instructor Training
Any Unit planning to have a climbing outing, must have at least one certified Level 2 Climbing Instructor trained to the appropriate level of the Climbing activity.
About the Training: The San Francisco Bay Area Council is part of a Multi-Council Collaboration for Climbing Instructor Training. Individuals will be able to choose the appropriate climbing training session to match their climbing training needs.

Grade A – An indoor facility, any climbing site that uses engineered protection systems.

Grade B – Any climbing site that uses natural anchors (i.e. boulders or trees) or climbing bolts installed by a qualified individual. - Requires 30 hours of training.

Grade C – A climbing site that uses artificial protection. - Requires 60 hours of training.
Course Lengths:
Grade A Level 2 Climbing Instructor Training - Requires 20 hours of training. - 1 weekend - Friday Evening thru Sunday Afternoon
Grade B Level 2 Climbing Instructor Training - Requires 30 hours of training. - 1 weekend - Friday Evening thru Sunday Afternoon 3 evening meetings
Grade C Level 2 Climbing Instructor Training - Requires 53 hours of training. - 2 weekends - Friday Evening thru Sunday Afternoon 3 evening meetings
All those 18-20 years of age will receive a Level 1 Climbing Instructor Certification. Those 21 years old who complete the courses will receive a Level 2 Climbing Instructor certification.
