Family Vacation Camp at Wente Scout Reservation offers numerous fun and exciting activities for people of all ages. Archery and BB gun are great for everybody and the rifle, shotgun, and black powder ranges offer a rousing challenge for older campers. Bring your fishing gear! Catch a mess of blue gill or large-mouth bass. Wente’s lake provides excellent fishing even for the smaller children. An 80-acre lake provides a great place to lie in the sun or swim on a warm afternoon. There are plenty of shallow areas for the little ones and areas for the experienced swimmer too. The lakes also offers the opportunity to row a boat, paddle a canoe or kayak, or just lean back and enjoy the sun as a stiff breeze pushes you along in a sailboat. You can enjoy the miles and miles of trails while riding one of our strings of Western saddle horses. Don’t forget to stop by the craft area where you can make something that will always remind you of the good times you had at Family Vacation Camp.

The trading post will offer a variety of ice cream, candy and other snack items as well as Wente Scout Reservation merchandise.

Like most national, state, or private campgrounds, you will be sleeping in tents. You have the option to use camp tents or you can bring your own.  ALL sites are assigned when you arrive at camp.  Large groups of 50 or more wishing to camp together can be assigned a site in advance otherwise all accommodations are first come, first served upon arrival at camp.  Hot showers and restrooms are nearby each of the campsites.

If you want to bring your own tent a favorite camping area at Wente Scout Reservation, close to the lake is “The Meadow”. This small camp area is limited to nine designated camp spaces with a maximum capacity of eight campers per space.  The Meadow is NOT reservable ahead of time.  Wente also has an RV campground with 10 sites that have water and electrical hookups.  The camp has a central dump station.   There is a small additional fee for RV lot use.

A great choice of two food plans is available. The first is bringing your own food to camp. Perishables may be stored in the camp refrigerators. All other food MUST be stored in your vehicles at night. The second choice is prepared meals in the camp dining hall. Eat like the Scouts do during summer camp. Varied and nutritious meals are available for a very reasonable fee. Meals begin with Saturday breakfast and end with Sunday dinner. Breakfast Monday is available for an additional fee for those on the meal plan and for those who are cooking their own food.
