COUNCIL POPCORN SALE HIGHEST SELLER IS NATION’S HIGHEST SELLER !!! The San Francisco Bay Area Council would like to recognize Luke Fewx a 13 year old Star Scout from Troop 168 in Hayward, CA. In 2016 Luke sold over $38,000 in popcorn and is the number one seller in the nation, way to go! This past Tuesday, Luke was recognized at the National Trail's End conference in Orlando, FL by the CEO of Weaver popcorn, Trail's End's parent company, in front of all of the Councils in America. To see that Luke sells so much popcorn is amazing but to know what he does with the money earned is even more amazing. In addition to funding his way to summer camp, National Jamboree and Exploration Camp, Luke has donated money for the past few years to other Scouts in need, most notably the Scouting programs at both California School for the Blind and California School for the Deaf. He lives by the Scout Oath and Law and sees it as his good turn to help support the program for these disabled scouts who attend boarding schools and cannot have the same Scouting experience he has. In 2016, Luke was also honored by the San Francisco Bay Area Council at its 1st Annual Friends of Scouting Kick-Off Breakfast with a Young American Award for his dedicated Service above himself for the good of Scouting.
2nd ANNUAL FRIENDS OF SCOUTING BREAKFAST This year the San Francisco Bay Area Council will be hosting our 2nd Annual Friends of Scouting Kick-Off Breakfast on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Double Tree Newark-Fremont, 39900 Balentine Dr., Newark CA. All Scouters, alumni, friends and community members are welcome to attend and help support Scouting. The cost of the breakfast has been generously underwritten by our sponsors and we ask you the donor to please be prepared to make a Friends of Scouting gift of at least $250 at the breakfast. All donations will be counted towards your unit goal to receive the incentives for your Pack or Troop. Troops achieving their goal will be offered a free 2 night camping experience at either Wente Scout Reservation, Camp Royaneh or Rancho Los Mochos to be redeemed in 2017. Packs will receive neckerchief slides for all members to be presented at the bridging in May 2017. We invite you to join us that morning and to help us support Scouting and some of the great youth in our council. We do have additional Sponsorship opportunities and Table Host opportunities available. SCOUT AND VENTURE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY!! National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Registration now open – 3 Sessions in 2017 The San Francisco Bay Area Council is offering 3 sessions of National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). Two are in June and a new one is being introduced for the Fall of 2017. The 3 sessions are:

Swimming Merit Badge Days
This Merit Badge Day will provide the opportunity for Scouts to work on completing swimming Merit Badge Requirements. Scouts should attend either the morning or the afternoon session on either Saturday or Sunday. Check out www.sfbac.org for more details!

American Red Cross First Aid & CPR Training San Francisco Bay Area Council
This course is being offered in partnership with East Bay Regional Park’s Lifeguard Service and is open to any registered older Boy Scouts and Adult leaders. Registration is open to troops and individuals. Troop leadership must be provided for troops and individual scouts must be accompanied by a paying adult.
